INTELLIGENCE FOR CONSTRUCTION LEADERS, brought to you by Document Crunch
August 2026: Robots, Roadshows and the Next Phase of Bricks & Bytes

Typically, in August, Europe is pretty quiet. It’s a difficult month to move anything meaningful, especially when they rely on other people. The continent enjoys their summer holidays and most people’s availability and focus is disrupted.
So I often find myself taking the opportunity to reflect and work “on” the business instead of “in” the business.
At some point, you realise that obsessing over your craft for years creates a compounding advantage. You become more confident in your decisions because they’re no longer based on theory. They’re built on thousands of hours of pattern recognition, mistakes, repetition and experience. That kind of knowledge can’t be shortcut or replicated. You only earn it by spending years inside the work. And with that, I feel more confident than ever in what we’ve got planned for Bricks & Bytes.
So whilst this reflective period is still ongoing, here’s a recap of our August, as well as a glimpse of what the near future Bricks & Bytes might look like. More to come over the coming months.
Bricks & Bytes // Bedrock Robotics
Anyone who pays any attention to us will know we spent some time in Austin at the end of July. And if you didn’t, I wrote a pretty fun article here about it here.
August has all been about applying the post production (editing) magic, and we’re excited to say that the full film will be out this month in September.
Producing one of these is a monumental effort. From the months of planning before, to the shoot on the day, to the final edit, delivery and promotion. I am super grateful to be working with such a talented team in Bedrock and our own editors to continue to produce the most interesting content this industry has seen. Keep your eyes open.
Autodesk University 2026 + Party
I (Owen) will be at Autodesk University in a couple weeks time (14th-17th September).
As always, this is one of the most exciting places for me to connect with those who I don’t get to see in person regularly. If you want to meet up, shoot me a message ([email protected]) and we’ll try and arrange something.
The Big Splash VIP Party
I’m also very excited to announce that we’re partnering with Global eTraining and their Big Splash VIP party. After attending their equivalent party in Nashville last year, I can tell you that this is THE event you want to get to at AU this year.
We have 25 tickets to give away, so if you want to hang out and sip some negronis together sign up with the link here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1993632205594?aff=oddtdtcreator.
Hope to see you there.

2027 Sponsorship Opportunities
We spent a lot of time in July and August thinking about a simple question. With the platform we’ve built, how can we create more value for the industry?
Since starting Bricks & Bytes, we’ve built and continue to build. a highly engaged and influential audience across construction, technology and the wider built environment.
Along the way, we’ve tested a lot…
Some things have worked. Some haven’t. But that experimentation has given us a much clearer understanding of what actually cuts through, what audiences respond to, and how brands can earn meaningful attention in this industry.
We don’t pretend to have every answer, but we do believe Bricks & Bytes is now one of the best-positioned platforms for companies looking to build awareness and credibility with an influential construction audience.
So over the next 4–6 weeks, we’re completely reworking our sponsorship offering for the remainder of 2026, 2027 and beyond.
If you’d like to be one of the first to see what we launch, reply to this email and I’ll make sure you’re on the list.
What’s Coming Up
A huge announcement on something we have planned for November 2026 - I was tempted to write about it here, but I should really wait (and so I will)
An interview with Gene Hodge, VP of Innovation at Mortensen - who recently announced a partnership with Goldbeck. If you’re not taking the industrialised/offsite conversation seriously, then you should. This is the future.
Further exploration into the physical world shift. I have been doing a lot of reading and research on this and if you think my previous point outlines the future of construction, this is the future future of construction which might be closer than you think.
Boston Built Week - 16th-20th November 2026. Join us in Boston as we partner up with Suffolk Tech - one year after our previous live stream on campus.
From the hottest summer us Brits have ever experienced to the excitement of 2026. See you in the last quarter of 2026. Onward!
